<br />that notice of the application and request for the appointment of vCewerm was duly posted on September ~8,
<br />1968, on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and at two public places
<br />within the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, namely: at the intersection Of Tyre Neck Road and T~d Street and
<br />at the intersection of Tyre Neck Road Mud Seventh Street.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RHSOLI~D by the Councfl of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Jehu G. Tynch,
<br />Euclid M. Hanbury, L. C. Doughtie, W. O. Scott and Carl H. Bowers be appointed viewers to view the herein-
<br />after described portions of Third and Sevem~5 Streets and report to t~is Council in writing whether in their~
<br />opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the following portions
<br />of the specified streets:

<br />Third Street from the west side of Tyre Neck Road in a westerly direction 475 feet more or less
<br />to its terminus at the eastern right-of-way of the Norfolk, Franklin and Dar~ville Railroad; said
<br />portion of Third Street separates Blocks 19 and 20 on the Plat ef Churchland Land Company.

<br />2. Seventh Street from the east side of Tyre Neck Road in an easterly direction 405 feet more or less to
<br /> its terminus in a swamp."

<br /> 68-329 - "Bids were received on October $, for the construction of water mains in the Churchland area.
<br />This also includes the construction of a necessary main to tile new Coast Guard Base at Craney Island and
<br />the industrial tract owned by the Norfolk and Western Railway Company. The following bids were received:

<br />recommend that the attached ordinance appropriating $275,000 for this contract be nlaced on first reading.
<br />This includes engineering fees and contingencies."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Turner to award the contract to the lowest bidder, A. G. Pin,eton Company, was adopted,
<br />without dissenting vote.

<br /> Motion of Mr. Holley that the following ordinance be approved on first reading, was adopted, without
<br />dissenting vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $275,000.00 FROM IXqE WATER FUND FOR TF~ CONSTRUCTION OF WATER MAINS

<br /> 68-530 - "I recommend that the proper City officials be authorized to sifn an agmeement between the
<br />United States of America and the City of Portsmouth for the Museum artifacts in the Naval Shipyard Museum.
<br />
<br /> I am advised by the Museum Board that there are no substantial variances between this agreement and
<br />the original except that the Navy has for its own purposes, separated the handling of the ship mod~ls from
<br />the o~er artifacts in the Museum, and has required additional insurance thereon amounting to $85,000.00."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Bastes to concur in the recommendatinn of the City Manager was adopted, without dissenting

<br /> 67-551 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This appoints viewers for the
<br />closing of a portion of a certain alley in Piedmont Heights. Randolph Faircloth has made application to
<br />vacate and close this alley, and it has been approved by the Planning Commission."

<br />of Hustingss~r the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />and on the bulletin board of the Municipal Court of the City of Portsmouth.

<br />opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing that portion of a certain
<br />alley ten (10] feet in width lying between lots 1S and 16 on the east and lots 29 and SO on the west in
<br />Block 3, as shown on the nlat of Piedmont Heights, recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the
<br />City of Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map Book 4, at page S2."
