<br />Council was adopted.

<br />Mr. Holley nominated Dr. Nell Call~an, Rev. Charles C. Vacke' and John Fi St~ne.
<br />On motion of Mr. Smith, nominations were closed.
<br />
<br /> Vote being taken, those nomimated were mnanimously elected members of the Tidewater Regional Health
<br />Planning Council.
<br />
<br /> 68-314 - Motion of Mr. Smith to go into the election of members to the Coast Guard Lightship Board was
<br />adopted.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Johnson nominated SKCS Eugene J. Bouffard, U. S. Coast Guard, Ret., 4028 Su~wnerset Drive to fill the
<br />vacancy caused by the resignation of Capt. William Webster. His t$~m of offi'ce will expire on January 31, 1969.
<br />

<br /> Vote oelno taken Chief Bouffard was unanimously elected to the Lights~o Museum Board, for the term
<br />specified. ~

<br /> Mr. Johnson nominated James W. Bolding, Jr., 201 Gannon Road, to fill the unexpired term of Donald Porter,
<br />212 Norman Road, which term expires January S1, 1970. '

<br />On motion of Mr. King, nominations were closed.
<br />
<br /> Vote being taken, Fir. Bolding was unanimously elected a member of the Lightship Museum Board, for the term
<br />specified.
<br />
<br />68-375 - The following letter from the City Clerk was read:

<br /> "The term of Judge R. F. McMurran, on the Portsmouth Law Library Board has expired."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Eastea to go into th~ election of a member to the Portsmouth Law Library Board was adooted,
<br />without dissenting vote. ' ~
<br />
<br /> Mr. Smith nominated Judge Mc~rran to succeed himself on the Portsmnuth Law Library~Board, for a term of
<br />four years, expiring NovemJDer 1, 1972.
<br />
<br />On motion of Mr. Holtey, nominations were closed.

<br />Vote being taken, Judge M~4urran was elected a member of the Board for the term specified, without dissent-
<br />vote.
<br /> 68-574 - The following letter from the Federation of Civic Clubs was read:
<br />
<br /> "The Federation of Civic Clubs wishes to extend their appreciation to you and the members of City Council
<br />for the presentation ~nd favorable response regarding the curfew on Malloween night.
<br />
<br /> We are encouraged to know that we have the support of our City Government in our joint effort to make our
<br />city a better place to live."
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. Smith to receive as information was adopted, without dissenting vote.
<br />68-375 - The following letter from the Portsmouth Coast Guard ~!useum was read:
<br />
<br /> "~e have written on numerous occasions in the past seeking to have our full comolement of fifteen [lS)
<br />Board members filled. Thus far, we have not been able to get a total of fifteen (15~ members appointed to our
<br />Board. At the present time, there are still two vacancies.
<br />
<br /> We wishote strongly urge the appointment of Chief Bouffard whom we have previously recommended to the
<br />Council, and any of the following we feel'would be good members of the Board: ~iarles Bartlett, CliffOrd ~ason,
<br />Dana Gray, James W. Bolding, Jr., and Maurice Gompf.
<br />
<br />We would appreciate you~prompt action in this matter."

<br />On motion of Mr. Holler, received as information.

<br /> 68-576 - The fQllowing letter from the Clerk of the Court of Hustings was read:

<br />the-City Of Portsmouth by restaurants licensed under Chapter 1.1 of Title 4 of the Code of Virginia?";

<br /> It further appearing tO the Court that the polls were opened on~'~Movember 5, 1968, said date
<br />being not later than the'next general election and at least sixty days altar the entry of said order,
<br />and said election was in the manner provided by law; and '
