~ebruar¥ 11, 1969 <br /> <br /> According to published figures of the Portsmouth City Manager, th~ above organization, previously known <br />as Tidewater Community Baseball Corporation, used the Portsmouth Stadlhlm for six years with the City of Por~s- <br />mouth receiv&fi~ reRtal and admission tax revenue in the amonnt of $29,720.50 compared with expenses of <br />$68,864.78, resulting in a loss to the City of Portsmout~ and its tax paying citizens of $59,144.28. <br /> <br /> Considering ibis loss with the anticipated future loss in services to be provided by the City of Portsmout <br />at the tax payers expense, for a departing tenant, together with the high real eszate and personal prooerty tax <br />rate assessed the Portsmouth tax payer, we do not feel tDe Portsmouth City Council has acted in the be~t in- <br />terest of the gitizens of Portsmouth." Vassar and others) <br /> <br />On motion ofMr. Eastes, received as information - Mr. Smith abstaining. <br /> <br />69-50 - The following letter from the faculty, of SAea Terrace School was read: <br /> <br /> "The faculty of Shea Terrace School would deeply appreciate your acceptance of the budget as presented by <br />the School Board. <br /> <br /> Thank you very much for your consideration and cooppma~ion." Henderson and others) <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson to refer to t~e budget study conference was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> 69-SI - The following letter from the Superintendent of Schools was read: <br /> <br /> '~he School Board of the City of Portsmouth respectfully requests the City Council to appropriate <br />$678,267, the combined Did for additions~o l~esthaven and i~odges Manor Elementary $c5ools, pending approval <br />of the federal court. <br /> <br /> The base bid on Hodges Manor was $236,253 and t~e Sase bid for ~esthaven was $32,920.
