<br />person violating this section shall upon conviction be confined in the penitentiary not less than one nor more
<br />than three years or in the discretion of the jury or judge sitting without a jury he confined in jail for a
<br />period not exceeding twelve months or fined riva 5a~admed dollars or both. '
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-69.2. (a) It shall be unlawful forany person to point, or brandish any firearm, as hereinafter
<br />described, or any object confusingl? similar in appearance to a firearm., whether capable of being fired or not,
<br />in such manner as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another. Persons violating the provisions of this
<br />section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
<br />
<br /> (b) Any police officer, in the performance of his duty in making an arrest under the provi~
<br />sions of this section shall not be civilly liable in 'damages for injuries or death resulting to the person bein
<br />arrested if he had reagon to believe that the person Be£ng arrested was oointing, or brandishing suc~ firearm,
<br />or object which was confusingly similar in appearance, tea firearm, wit~ intent to induce fear in the mind of
<br />another.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-50. Any and every person composing a mob which shall maliciously or Unlawfully shoot, stab, cut or
<br />wo~d any person, or by any means cause him Bodily injury with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or kill him,
<br />shall be confined in the penitentiary for not less than one nor more than twenty years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-65. If any person maliciously shoot, stab, cut, or wound any person or by any means cause him bodily
<br />injury, with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill, he shall, except where it is otherwise provided,
<br />be confined in the penitentiary not less than three nor more than twenty years, If such act be done unlawfully
<br />but not maliciously, with the intent afores~id, t~e offender shall, at the discretion of the jury, be confined
<br />in the penitentiary not less thmn one nor more than fiYe years or be confined in jail not exceeding twelve
<br />months, and fined not exceeding five hundred dollars.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-90. If any person, armed wit5 a deadly weapon shall enter any banking house, in the daytime or in th~
<br />nighttime, with the intent to commit larceny of money, bonds, notes, or other evidence of debt therein, he shall
<br />be punished with death, or by confinement in t~e penitentiary for life, or for any term not less than five
<br />years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-91. If any person conmit robbery ~y partial strangulation, or guffocation, br by striking or beating,
<br />or by other violence to the person~ or by the threat or presenting of firearms, or other deadly weapon or inst~
<br />mentality whatsoever, he shall he punished with death, or by confinement in the penitentiary for life, or for
<br />any term not less than five years. If any person cormmit a robbery iq any other mode, or by any other means, he
<br />sharl be confined in the penitentiary not less than five years nor more than ~enty years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-152. If any person maliciously shoot at, or maliciously throw any stones or other missiles at ar
<br />against, any train or cars on any railroad or other transportation company or any vessel or other watercraft,
<br />or any motor vehicle or other vehicles when occupied by oen or more persons, or so shoot or throw into any
<br />dwelling house or other building when occupied b~ one or more persons, whereby the life of any passenger, or
<br />other person on such train or car, or on such vessel, or other~watercraft, or in such motor vehicle or other
<br />vehicle, or in such building~ may be put in peril, the person or persons so offending shall, upon conviction
<br />thereof, be punished by confinementin the penitentiary-not less %hen two nor more than ten years; and, in the
<br />event of the death of any passenger or other person, resulting from such malicious shooting or throwing, the
<br />person so offending shall be deemed guilty of murder, the degree {o be determined by the jury or the court try-
<br />ing the case without a jury. If any such act be committed unlawfully, but not maliciously, the person so offemd
<br />ing shall, upon gonviction thereof, be punished by confinement in the penitientiary not less than one nor more
<br />than three years, or, in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, be confined in
<br />jail not to exceed twelve months and fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more than' fivehundred dollars.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-241. If any p-rson carry any gun, pistol, bowie knife, dagger or other dangerous weapon to a place
<br />of worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held at such place, or, without good and sufficient
<br />cause therefor, carry any such weapon on Sunday at any place other than his own premises, he shall be fined not
<br />less than twentyddellars. If any offense under this section be committed at a place of religious worship, the
<br />offender may be arrested on ~he order of a conservator of the peace, without warrant, and held until a warrant
<br />can be obtained, but not exceeding three hours. Every justice of the peace, ~von his own knowledge, or upon the
<br />affidavit of any person that an offense Under this section has been committed shall issue a warrant for the
<br />arrest of the offender.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-246. Whoever keeps or uses a live pigeon or other bird or fowl for the purpose of a target, or to be
<br />shot at either for amusement or as a test of skill in markmanship, or shoots at a bird kept or used as aforesaid
<br />or is a party to such shooting, or lets any building, room, field, or premises, or knowingly permits the use
<br />thereof for the purpose of such shooting, shall be punished by a fine ~f not more th~n fifty dollars or by im-
<br />prisonment for not more than thirty days, or by both. Nothing herein contained shall apply to the shooting of
<br />wild game. ~
<br />
<br />Sec~ 18.1-260. Unlawful possession or useof a machine gun for an Offensive or aggressive vurpose is hereby
<br />declared to be a crime punishable by impri§onment in the state penitentiary for a term of n~t less than teg
<br />years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-268.2. Possession or use ora "sawed-off" shotgun £n'-tkm v6fp~a~io~ e~ attempted nermetration of a
<br />crime of violence is hereby declared to be a crime pUnishable by dea%h or by imprisonment in t~e ~tate peni-
<br />tentiary for a term ~ not less than twenty years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-268.3f Unlawful p~sMession or use of a"sawed-off" shotgun for an offensive or agressive purpose is
<br />hereby declared to be a crime punishable by imprisonment in the State penitentiary for a term of not less than
<br />ten years.
<br />
<br />Sec. 18.1-269. If any person carry about his person, hid from common observation, any pistol, dirk, bowie knif~
<br />switchblide knife, razor, slungshot, metal knucks, or any weaponof like kind, he shall upon conviction there-
<br />of be fined not less than twenty dollars nor more than $500.00, and, in the discretion of the jury or the court
<br />trying the case without a jury, may, 'in addition thereto, be committed to jail for not more than twelve months,
<br />and such pistol, dirk, bowie knife, switchblade knife, razor, slungshot, metal knucks or weapon of like kind,
