February 2g. 1969 <br /> <br />budget study conference. <br /> <br /> 69-70 - The following letter from the Portsmouth Council Parent-Teachers Association was read: <br /> <br /> "I am humbly requesting time on the agenda of your meeting Tuesday, February 25~h, for three of our <br />leaders to speak briefly in regard to the current problems of our public school systenr,. Our representatives <br />will be, -- Mr. Leo Antonucci, Mr. Frank Harte, and Mr. Solomon Carey. <br /> <br /> The PTA Council, comoosed of twenty-seven local Parent Teacher Association~ in its concern for the <br />children and youth of our city, would appreciate your granting this request." <br /> <br /> Solomon Carey spoke. <br /> <br /> The Mayor thanked Mr. Carey for his information and stated that it would be considered in the Council's <br />study of the school budget. <br /> <br /> 69-71 - The followinR letter from the Portsmouth Histerical Association was read: <br /> <br /> "On behalf of the Portsmouth Historical Association, I would like to present a report on the Court <br />House, Portsmouth, Virginia, adooted at a meeting of the Association held on ~ebruary 20, 1969, at the <br />meeting of the Council on Tuesday, February 25, 1969. <br /> <br />As I have a report for each member of the Council, tke presentation will take a very short time. <br /> <br /> Thanking you for your consideration of the above request, I <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Eastes to thank the Historical Association for the information and refer the matter to a <br />Council conference, and that the Association be advised, was adopted. <br /> <br />69-72 - The following letter from the City Clerk was read: <br /> <br />"The foll~ing terms of office will expire on March lst, 1969: <br /> <br />Board of Electrical Exam. iners - Sherman Ask~ <br />Portsmouth Bond Commission - Vincent T. Cherry <br /> Robert M. Reed" <br /> <br />On motion of )Ir.
