September 22. 1998 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, September 22, 1998, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *J. <br />Thomas Benn 111, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald <br />W. Massif, City Attorney G;Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />98-224 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />September 22, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />98-225 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. TRT - Pentran Consolidation <br />2. Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive <br />Ses'~ion pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code-of Virginia, for <br />discussion or consideration of the following: <br /> <br />1. Appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as <br /> .permitted by Subsection (A)(1) <br /> <br />2. The condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the <br /> disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3), said <br /> property being in the Churchland and downtown areas of the City. <br /> <br />Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public ~business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered <br />in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Debbie K.
