September 22. 1998 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, September 22, 1998, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *J. Thomas Benn 111, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massif, City Attorney G;Timothy Oksman. 98-224 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98-225 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. TRT - Pentran Consolidation 2. Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve Motion by Mr. Whitehurst and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Ses'~ion pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code-of Virginia, for discussion or consideration of the following: 1. Appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as .permitted by Subsection (A)(1) 2. The condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3), said property being in the Churchland and downtown areas of the City. Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public ~business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
