69-304 - The following letter from the Portsmouth Central Civic ~orum was read:

"The Po~smouth Central Civic Forum requests permission to appear before the Council at it's next meeting,
Tuesday, Sept6mber 50, 1969.

A coranittee of the Forum desires to state a grievance concerning the Effingbam Street widening project.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration."
The following people spoke:

Allen Creekmur and Mrs. Grace Davis

On motion of Mr. Holley,. referred to the City Manager.

69-50S - The following letter from the Portsmouth Area Council of Garden Clubs was read:

"The members of the Portsmouth Area Council of Garden Clubs are quite concerned about the number of in-
dividuals who are parking, washing and polishing their cars along the edge of the lake in City Park which
adjoins the Friendship Garden. This problem exists on the weekends and particularly on Sundays.

As you know, this area has recently been filled, graded and seeded by the Director of Parks and Beautifi-
cation in an effort to beautify that side of the Garden. The continuuus driving over, and walking on this newly
worked area will hinder the new grass from growing.

As there is a "NO PARKING" regulation covering this area, a letter has been written to Chief of Police
C. L. ~arren asking ~hat this regulation be enforced. A copy of this letter is enclosed."

On motion of Mr. Holley, referred to the City Manager.

On motion adjourned.

APPROVED -

City Clerk
