October 27.1998 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, October 27, 1998, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, -Sr., Deputy City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 98-242 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6t~ floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98-243 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Introduction of Dr. Kenneth St. Andr6, Public Health Director. 2. Department of Social Services - State Computer System. 3. Introduction of Bulgarian Delegation. 4. West Norfolk Road Safety and Improvements. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). There are three separate subjects involving publicly held real property. One subject involves real property located in the downtown area of Portsmouth in the Crawford Redevelopment area; a second subject involves watershed and water system-related real property located in the City of Suffolk; and a third subject involves SPSA real property. Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr, Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best Of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
