October 27.1998 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, October 27, 1998, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. <br />Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />-Sr., Deputy City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />98-242 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6t~ floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, <br />1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />98-243 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Introduction of Dr. Kenneth St. Andr6, Public Health Director. <br />2. Department of Social Services - State Computer System. <br />3. Introduction of Bulgarian Delegation. <br />4. West Norfolk Road Safety and Improvements. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for <br />discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a <br />public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by <br />Subsection (A)(3). There are three separate subjects involving publicly held real <br />property. One subject involves real property located in the downtown area of <br />Portsmouth in the Crawford Redevelopment area; a second subject involves <br />watershed and water system-related real property located in the City of Suffolk; and <br />a third subject involves SPSA real property. <br /> <br />Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr, Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best Of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or <br />considered in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Debbie K.
