The Mayor's <br />least 1S00 youth <br />participating in <br /> <br />Youth Employment CommiSsion of Portsmouth is seeking to locate jobs for at <br />in Portsmouth this summer and feel that our city program can benefit from <br />this Youth Transportation Project. <br /> <br /> The basic prerequisite for participation is evidence of an effort to develop and coordin~ <br />summer youth employment. <br /> <br /> The funding for this program will be on a 75% federal, 25% non-federal basis for net <br />project costs. Portsmouth City is required to provide (from any source other than federal) <br />25% cash share (one local dollar for every three federal dollars). The federal amQunt re- <br />served for Portsmouth's application is $3750, Portsmouth's matching share is $1250. <br /> <br /> A brief description of Portsmouth's efforts will have to be in the NLC/USCM Youth <br />Transportation Project, 1612 K Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. 20006 by April 17, 1970. <br /> <br /> Upon satisfaction of the preceeding requirement, the city will be requested to submit <br />a formal proposal. <br /> <br /> The Mayor's Youth Employment Commission recommends that the Portsmouth City Council <br />respond favorably in accepting to fund the 2S% ($12S0) local share of this worthwhile project. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Johnson to endorse the project was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 70-158 - The City Manager made a recommendation to Council that the Southeastern'Vir.giniai <br />Planning District Commission be requested to make a study of the method of contributions to ~ <br /> <br />the Commission, suggesting that cities be assessed according to their ability to pay as well <br />as on a per capita basis. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Turner that the City Attorney be requested to draw a resolution to this <br />effect and that the same method be considered in all area-wide matters, was adapted, without <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 70-159 - Motion of Mr. Johnson that <br />the City Park checked, and if dredging is <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />the,City Manager have the boat launching area at <br />needed, that it be done immediat,~ly, was adopted, <br /> <br />On motion adjuurned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />te <br /> <br /> <br />
