Anril 14. 1970 70-138 The following letter from the City Attorney was read: "At your request I have looked into the law concerning the making of bomb threats by telephone, particularly to school buildings. My research has disclosed that the State law covers this situation compltely. Conviction under the State statutes constitutes a felony punishable by up to ten years imprisonment. Since the offense is designated a felony under State law, the City is without authority to legislate on this subject matter." Motion of Mr. Smith to receive as infemmation with the privilege of discussion, was adopted, without dissenting vote. Mr. Smith asked that the City Manager make some effort to give the schools more pro- tection. Mr. King suggested~that the news media could be of valuable assistance if the penalty were advertised. 70-151 Election of members to Boards and Commissions. Motion of Mr. Eastes to go into the election of a member to was adopted. Mr. Smith nominaeed W. T. Goode, Jr. to succeed himself for January 1, 1974. On motion of Mr. Eastes, nominations were closed. Vote being taken Mr. Goede was elected a member of the Planning term specified, Mr. Turner abstaining. Motion of Mr. Holley to go into the election of a member to the was adopted. Mr. King nominated Richard Ivins to succeed himself for May 1, 1975. On motion of Mr. Johnson, nominations werecclosed. Vote being taken, Mr. Ivins was elected a member of the specified, Mr, Turner abstaining. Motion of Mr. King to go into the election of a member to the to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Nathan Myers. Mr. Johnson nominated Ramon E. Brummer. On motion of Mr. Holley, nominations were closed. the Planning Commission, a four year term, expiring Commission for the Parking A~thority a five year term, expiring Parking Authority for the term Tax Study Commission, Vote being taken, Mr. Brummer was elected a member of theTax Study Commission, Mr. Turner abstaining. This term is for three years an ordinance will be presented to cover. Motion of Mr. Holley to go into the election of a member to the Examiners, was adopted. Mr. King nominated Donald O. Hawkins. On motion of Mr. Johnson, nominations were closed. Vote being taken, Mr. Hawkins was elected a member of the Board for a four year term, expiring March 1, 1974, Mr. Turner abstaining.
