Smith was read: <br /> <br /> "I wish to submit my resignation from the City of Portsmouth Planning Commission at this time. ~J~ <br />participation on this commission has certainly been a rewarding experience for me and I am looking for~fard to <br />further service to the city of Portsmouth as a member of the city council. <br /> <br /> I think the Planning Department under the able direction of Mr. Brewer bioore and his very capable staff <br />and the Planning Commission ~nder the chairmanship of ~]r. W. T. Goode are very dedicated and a definite asset <br />to our city. It has been an honor for me to have'served with this active group. The community at large Would <br />do well to follow more closely the operations of the Planning Department in order to stay abreast of the City's <br />Direction." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. King to accept the resignation, with pleasure, and to refor the vacancy on the Planning <br />Commission to a conference of Council was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 70-308 - bir. Turner reported on a complaint made by Mr, EFPerson regarding debris in the 600 block of <br />Mt. Vernon Avenue. <br /> <br /> Re City Manager stated that all industrial firms are finding it difficult to dispose of debris and that <br />an effort is being made to acquire a site, for this purpose. <br /> <br /> Motion of N~r. Turner that the City Manager write Mr. Epperson, giving him this information, an~that <br />~r. Barber, Public Information Officer for the City, be requested to make explanation through fl~e press, was <br />adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
