' <br /> <br />Mr. Turner nominated George r!inor, Jr. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. King nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> Vote being taken, Mr~ Minor was elected to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for the <br />term specified, with one dissenting vo~e, that of Mr. Holley; Mr. Smith (I) abstaining. <br /> <br /> 70-457 - Motion of Mr. Smith (R) to commend the State Fire Marshals and the members of the Portsmouth <br />Fire Department for the fine work they are doing in apprehending false alarm~, investigating fire bombings <br />and fighting fires, also for their cooperation with the FBI was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 70-458 - Motion of Mr. Holley that a resolution be prepared commending the I. C. Norcom band on their <br />participation in the Atlantic City "~liss America Pageant Parade" for their excellent behavior, also commending <br />the principal of I. C. NorcOm and the banM director, was adopted, without dissenti&E vote. <br /> <br />70-439 - Mr. Turner made the following statement: <br /> <br /> "I do not want to be misunderstood in voting "No" on the motion that a resolution be drawn commending <br />Police Officer Ennis and all Police officers concerened in the protection of lives and property during the <br />shooting in~dent in the vicinity of the stadium on September 19, 1970, because I appreciate the Police <br />Department in the City of Portsmouth mhd if the Police were to leave, I would pull out close behind them." <br /> <br /> On motion approved~ <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
