area scheduled in the previous fiscal year. The West Simonsdale area is estimated to cost $224,500 and the East Simonsdale area, $57,500 for drainage. The eastern area should be scheduled'this year if the available funds are used. The City Council has received complaints concerning the drainage condition of the cross streets in the vicinity of Effingham Street. This was referred~to me fo~ al study and report. The Engineering Department has studied the area and advised me that there are no temporary measures that can be taken to correct this condition. Storm drainage installation is needed between Henry and Argyle Streets amounting to $50,200. This does not incluae a storm drain on Lincoln Street between Washington and west of Effingham Street estimated to cost SSS,S00. To accomplish the curb and guttering needed for the area will require $$1S,000. Two additional streets that should be given consideration because of their traffic load and the many complaints we have due to their poor drainage and the their existing paving does not match the adjoining property are: increasing fact that Chowan Drive - Cherokee Road to Airline Boulevard Cherokee Road Chowan Drive to 200 ft. west The cost estimate for this is $26,174. The drainage project in the Cradock-area was completed in the last fiscal year with no curb and guttering. To complete this, it is estimated to cost $157,27I. If the following drainage projects were accomplished, it would require $169,000: East Simonsdale Effingham - Cross Streets (Henry to Argyle - excluding Lincoln Street) Lincoln Street Washington Street to west of Effingham Street Chowan Drive - Cherokee Road $57,500 $50,200 $35,300 $26,000 This will leave no funds for the Mt. Hermon code enforcement project and the only method available would be the issuance of General Obligation Bonds."
