<br />was instructed to make a study to determine the city's control over the erection or removal
<br />of signs on our highways and report back to City Council as soon as possible, was adopted by

<br /> 71-524 Mr. Irvine Smith made a motion that the Council give a vote of confidence
<br />and appreciation of all city employees and department~heads for their immediate response
<br />to assist the peeple of the City of Portsmouth as a result of the damages sustained by the
<br />recent tornado and that the new director, Mr. Frye of the PRHA,and his forces be extended
<br />the same token of respect for their services, was adopted by the following vote:

<br /> 71-525 - The following letter received from Mrs. Robert B. Stublen, Corresponding
<br />Secretary, Junior Woman's Club of Portsmouth, was read:

<br /> "Last month, Judge Von L. Piersall, Jr. spoke to the Junior Woman's Club at a regular
<br />program meeting concerning the duties and functions of the Juvenile Courts in the State,
<br />and more specifically in Portsmouth. During his sFeech, he mentioned among other things,
<br />the need for a facility in Portsmouth which would be used for the rehabilitation of children
<br />whose situations call for something more than probation back into the same home environment
<br />which may have contributed to the child's problem, but whose situation is not serious enough
<br />for secure detention, He mentioned a Juvenile Probation Home which is a concept currentlF
<br />being encouraged by the State Department of Welfare and Institutions.

<br />the status of this matter (Juvenile Probation Home), was adopted by the following vote:

<br />(northeast) to afford the fifCy~eight families and four apartment dwellers ingress and egress
<br />of High Street. '
