Johnson, Isaac W. King, R. Irvine Smith, <br />Raymond B. Smith, Raymond Turner, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, and M. A. Korb, <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br />Prayer was offered by Councilman Isaac W. King. <br /> <br />71-544 Public Hearing oR the following zoning <br /> <br />Zoning Petition Z 71-53 Peachtree Associates <br /> <br />and use permits was held: <br /> <br />Attorney Benjamin J. Levy spo~e in support of approval. <br />Architect Thomas H. B. Morrlsette spoke in favor. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Raymond Smith and seconded by Mr. King, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE Z 71-33" <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, rurner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />USE PERMIT 71-11 Petition of Rosso-Mastracco, Inc. <br /> <br />Attorney D. C..Kilgore spoke in support. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Irvine Smith and seconded by Mr. Raymond Smith, the following resolutio <br />was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF AN AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE <br />STATION AT THE SOUTHEAST INTERSECTION OF BRIGHTON STREET AND RODMAN AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHSREAS, Rosso-Mastracco, Inc., has made application pursuant <br />Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, 1961, for t~he grantin'g <br />inafter described; and <br /> <br />to Section 4-2 of the <br />of a use permit as here- <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the-Planning Director have done all things required to be <br />done i.n connection with saia application, and the Planning Commission has considered the <br />granting df said use permit, subject to the conditions hereinafter stated. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> A, That the use for which the use permit hereinafter described is sought (1) will <br />will not adversely affect the health or safety of persons're, siding or working in the neigh- <br />borhood of the proposed use, (2) will not be detrimental to the public welfare or injurious <br />to property or improvements in the neighborhood, and (S) will be in accord with the purposes <br />of said Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br /> B. That Ross-Mastracco, Inc., is hereby granted a use permit subject to site plan <br />restrictions, pursuant to Section 4-2 of said Zoning Ordinance for the operation of an <br />Automotive Service Station located on the property described as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning at the southeast corner of Brighton Street and Rodman Avenue; thence south <br />along.the east side of Rodman Avenue approximately 162 feet to a point} thence-east approxi- <br />mately 120 feet to a point; thence north approximately SS feet to a point; thence west <br />approximately 30 feet to a point; -thence north approximately 108 feet to the south right-of- <br />way approximately 90 feet to Rodm~n Avenue, the point of beginning." <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />USE PERMIT ~-12 Petition of Construction Associates, Inc. <br /> <br />Attorney D. Kilgore spo~e in favor <br /> <br />Mr. Stradford Folkes, Architect, spoke in favor. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Raymond Turner and seconded by Mr. Holley, the following resolution <br />was adopted, and by'the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF A MOBILE HOME <br /> PARK AT THE NORTHEAST INTERSECTION OF GUST LANE AND CLAREMONT DRIVE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. Construction Associates, Inc., has made application pursuant to Section <br />4-2 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, 1961, for the granting of a <br />use permit as hereinafter described; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all things required to <br />be done in conne'ction with said application, and the Planning Commission has considered <br />the granting of said use permit, subject to the conditions hereinafter stated. <br /> <br /> <br />
