Road, was read:

"Please use your influence to provide adequate transportation for our children, to and
from school, for the following reasons:

1. Poor conditinn of the buses transporting children to school.

2. Overcrowding on buses.

3. Tardiness of children arriving to school.

I have to pay over $24.00 a month for my four children to ride the buses, and most of
the time they don't even get a seat. Three times last week my wife had to make trips to
school to either pick up or take the kids to school due ~o buses breaRing down.

As a home owner and tax payer, I can tell you I'm tired of seeing some children riding
free due to the area they live while I'm still paying for inadequate transportation."
Mr, Sharpe spoke and presented the following petition:

"The undersigned residences of Shea Terrace, Portsmouth, Virginia, living on and border~
ing on North Street, Idlewood Avenue, Sandpiper Avenue, and Plover DRive do hereby petition
the City Council to reconsider its action to make North Street a one-way street as of
February 14, 1972.

We request this matter be reconsidered because it has upset the existing parking and
traffic patterns, particularly due to the fact that several driveways are angled against
the one-way ~raffic, making it difficult to pull into these driveways without backing and
creating a dangerous traffic situation to both home owners and other motorists.

In addition, two homowners are now required to circle a complete block in
access to their homes which were previously accessable within 50 feet from the
Signed by F. D. Blow, 314 tdlewood Avenue and others."
