Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes Nays: 72-78 - "The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has advised that they have had requests for the use of land in the Northside Urban Renewal Project for commercial purposes, but under present zoning, it cannot be made available. It is recommended that the Planning Commission be requested.to hold a public hearing for the rezoning of property in the Northside Project along London Boulevard. The property is to be zoned for commercial use." On motion of Mr. Johnson, and seconded by Mr. King, the matter to be referred to a joint conference of the Planning Commission and City Cauncil, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, IrvineSSmith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes Nays: None 72-79 "I submit the attached letter from the Virginia Commission pertaining to the boundaries of the Virginia Dare District. Soil and Water Conservation Soil and Water Conservation The Virginia Dare District was established by the City of Chesapeake prior to the 1968 annexation by the City of Portsmouth. This is notice that the District is requesting revisions in their boundaries to conform to the current corporate boundaries of the City of Chesapeake and the City of Virginia Beach. We are currently studying the feasibility of the City of Portsmouth establishing a Soil and Water Conservation District."
