The attached newspaper article fairly we~l outlines the <br />Authority's views with regard to this matter. We certainly agree that the present arrange- <br />ment is not optional from either the Authority's, City's or resident~~' point of view. We <br />have discussed with the City Manager~and the Sanitation Department possible ways of improving <br />the situation; in addition to the steps we have already taken, and plan to continue such <br />discussion. Cox, Sr., Chairman, Committee <br />on Community Rblations, Citizens~Advisofy ~Committee, ~as read: <br /> <br /> "At its regular monthly meeting held 7 February 1972, Portsmouth's Citizens Advisory <br />Committee, upon recommendation of a special committee charged with making a study of the <br />Greenwood Drive Interchange, unanimously endorsed the general redesign of said Interchange <br />with the stipulation that signal lights, pedestrian overpasses, or other safe guards to <br />protect p~destrian traffic in general, and school traffic in particular. <br /> <br /> The members of the CAC, citizens of the Cavalier Manor and Hodges Manor communities are <br />in ge~erat agre.ement ~th~ the proposed GreenwoOd Interchange is Vitally necessary to provide <br />vehicle traffic ingress and egress from Interstate:Highway 264 for the residences of these <br />communities.
