Holley, <br />Raymond B. Smith, Raymond Turner, <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br />Burrell R. Johnson, Isaac W. King, R. Irvine Smith, <br /> A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, W. J. O~ Brinn, Jr. <br /> <br />M~. King offered prayer. <br /> <br /> Mayor Barnes extended a welcome to all visitors in the Chamber. <br /> <br /> Motinn of Mr. Holley, seconded by Mr. Raymond Smith, minutes of the Public <br />meeting (April 10, 1972), approved as submitted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Hearing <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nay§: None <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Raymond Smith, seconded by Mr. Irvine Smith, minutes of the City Cnuncil <br />meeting, on April--il, 1972~ were approved as received by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-139 Mayor Barnes presented Mr. George Minor, Jr., resolution of appreciation for <br />his services on the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> 72-~0~- Mayor Barnes presented certificates of appreciation to winning students for <br />"Earth Week" poster contest. <br /> <br />The following reports from the City Manager were read : <br /> <br /> 72-141 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. <br />This amends the ordinance recently adopted establishing fees for Police and Fire escort service. <br /> ~ for <br /> The previous ordinance established a charge of $5.00 for the first hour and $10.00 <br />each additional hour or fraction thereof when Police or Fire escort service is required. <br /> <br /> The new ordinance establishes a fee of $10.00 for the first hour and a half, and $$.00 <br />for each additional half hour or fraction thereof. This change has been requested by conqer~s <br />using this service." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. King and seconded..by Mr. Turner, the following ordinance was approved <br />on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCB ~STABLISHING FEES:FOR ESCORT SERVICES RENDERED BY THE POLICE <br />OR FIRE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH." <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-142 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on <br />~his repeals the sections of the City Code pertaining to inter-urban buses. <br /> <br /> These sections are not necessary as inter-urban buses are controlled by <br />tion Commission. The City Attorney <br /> has consulted with the Judges and they concur in these changes.
