They are going back to the areas as often as possible to reinspect and to effect compliances. In order to inspect in Park View on an emergency basis, all reinspection was suspended in Truxtun until Park View was completed. The Housing Environmentalists were advised by PRHA to hold off on code enforcement and to only apply Housing Code requirements as lists of houses needing immediate action are sent to the Health Department by PRF~ in the Park View area. The nature of the housing violations were as follows: Westhaven Park - 99% exterior and minor interior repairs, 1% electrical violations. Truxtun - 85% electrical violations, 14% exterior painting, 1% plumbing violations. Park View - 80% electrical and exterior painting, 20% minor repairs. Once an area has been inspected and brought up to standard with four inspectors availab2 only complaints are then checked until the area is reinspected. One inspector is now fully occupied making inspections, by contract, with Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. This means, in effect, there are only three inspectors to cover the minimum code areas." This amends Section 9-15.1 of the City Code pertaining to electrical wiring in the Fire District. The present code requires metal raceways in all buildings except detached or double- family dwellings. The amendment will allow other acceptable methods in apartment buildings up to five dwelling units.
