June 13. 1972 <br /> <br />72-253 - The following letter from Director of Planning, was read: <br /> <br /> 'At its regular monthly meeting on 1 June, 1972, the City Planning Commission resolved <br />to recommend, conditionally, agroup housing pro~ect plan: <br /> <br />ACADEMY POINT A major revision of an earlier proposal for 225 units of garden type <br />apartments east of the intersection of Twin Pines and Towne Point Roads. A network <br />of public streets is now proposed. Involved is 236 subsidy housing units for low <br />income families. <br /> <br />The site contains more than 24 acres and is~ the subject of a detailed site plan. <br />The Planning Commission insisted, and develppers agreed, that the entrance off <br />~win Pines Road approximately opposite Towne Point Road should be upgraded to the <br />status of a divided p~rkway type project entrance and that the width of Twin Pines <br />Road requires further study in efforts to make housing project subdivision plans <br />conform to State Highway Department plans for the future of Twin Pines Road as a <br />major arterial." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Raymond Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, to be received as information <br />and to be placed on next public hearing g~ni~g agenda, was adopted by the follo~ing vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Holtey, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-254 - Motion of Mr. Raymond Smith and seconded by Mr. <br />tunnel be in proximity of mid-town tunnel to give four lanes <br />the interstate, was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Holley, <br />to work <br /> <br /> to recommend that <br />in conjunction with <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />72-253 Motion of Mr. Turner and seconded by Mr. Holley, to reconsider. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. <br />conditions set forth by Planning Commission, <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />Irvine Smith, approve site plan, subject to <br />transaction provided in w~iiing, was adopted <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, JOhnson, King Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-255 - Motion <br />Plan as presented by <br />lowing vote: <br /> <br />of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. <br />Parks and Recreation Commission on <br /> <br />King, to adopt the Comprehensive <br />City Park, was adopted by the fol- <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-256 Motion of Mr. Irvine Smith and seconder by Mr. King, a general inspection in <br />Park View to study for the general well-being of those people living in areas under control <br />of PRHA - reference to weeds and generally poor conditions (up-keep), City Manager investi- <br />gate and take proper action, was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-257 Motion of Mr. Raymond Smith and seconded by Mr. Holley, "Ills of City" be <br />referred to a conference within next 30 days to determine what Council recommend, such as <br />State aid to implement the program suggested, was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, trvine Smith, Raymond Smith, Turner, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Turmem and seconded by Mr. Raymond Smith, meeting adjourned at 10:26 P.M. <br /> <br />APPROVBD <br /> <br /> r <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
