<br />72-253 - The following letter from Director of Planning, was read:

<br /> 'At its regular monthly meeting on 1 June, 1972, the City Planning Commission resolved
<br />to recommend, conditionally, agroup housing pro~ect plan:
<br />
<br />ACADEMY POINT A major revision of an earlier proposal for 225 units of garden type
<br />apartments east of the intersection of Twin Pines and Towne Point Roads. A network
<br />of public streets is now proposed. Involved is 236 subsidy housing units for low
<br />income families.
<br />
<br />The site contains more than 24 acres and is~ the subject of a detailed site plan.
<br />The Planning Commission insisted, and develppers agreed, that the entrance off
<br />~win Pines Road approximately opposite Towne Point Road should be upgraded to the
<br />status of a divided p~rkway type project entrance and that the width of Twin Pines
<br />Road requires further study in efforts to make housing project subdivision plans
<br />conform to State Highway Department plans for the future of Twin Pines Road as a
<br />major arterial."
