<br /> "At its regular monthly public hearing on 18 July 1972, the City Planning Commission
<br />adopted the following resolution: ~

<br />'SOUTHSIDE GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN, VA R-71 - GN
<br />
<br />Having been advised by the Office of City Planning that its staff ~
<br />has met with officials of the Division of State Planning and Community
<br />Affairs, professors from the University of Virginia, Hampton Institute
<br />and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and students a~sociated with the
<br />SOUTHSIDE WORKSHOP, and that public recognition of the value to Ports-
<br />mouth and its renewal goals growing out of WORKSHOP activities might
<br />assist in firming up funding arrangments for continued operation and
<br />expansion of the Workshop, the Planning Commission hereby resolves to
<br />note publicly its close association with the Southside Workshop since its
<br />inception two years ago, to endorse the project in principle and in general
<br />terms and to urge that City Council consider a resolution seeking continu-
<br />ation and expansion of the SOUTHSIDE WORKSHOP.' "

<br />'NORTHSIDE RENEWAL PROJECT #1, VA R-39, AMENDMENT #1
<br />
<br />Having been advised by the Office of City Planning that its staff has
<br />reviewed maps, tables and documentation submitted by the Portsmouth
<br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority and has fcund neither an objection nor any
<br />reason for not supporting same ~n connection with proposed alterations in
<br />the plan for redeveloping land in the Northside Renewal Project, the Ports-
<br />mouth Planning Commission hereby resolves to accept this staff conclusion and
<br />to recommend to City Council that it approve these changes for submission to
<br />the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.'
