February 9, 1999 99-33 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a portion of the lot at the northeast corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) for subsequent sale to the owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street. Surveys for the property reveal that the concrete pad/carport encroaches on the City owned lot at the corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard. Recommendation: Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a portion of the lot at the northeast corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for subsequent sale to the owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street. Purpose and Need: · The owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street has made a contract to sell that property. · Surveys for the property reveal that the concrete pad/carport encroaches on the City owned lot at the corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard. Financial Impact: · Conveyance/sale of this property to a private citizen will place the property back on the tax rolls. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY THE REMAINDER OF LOT 6, BLOCK 59, ON THE PLAN OF BRIGHTON TO PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority the following described property, to-wit: All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, with the building and improvements thereon, lying situate, and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and being known, numbered and designated as Lot 6, in Block 59, as shown on the Plan of Brighton, which said plat is duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in Map Book 21, at pages 32 through 35, Less, save and except the northern 5 feet of said lot conveyed to others. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute such deeds, or other documents as being be required to give full effect to this resolution." Ayes: Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 99-34 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the transfer of the franchise held by Cox Communications Hampton Roads, Inc. to Cox Communications Hampton roads L.L.C. This request is being made by Cox as part of a corporate reorganization and will have no impact on the day to day management or operations of the cable franchise, nor the ownership of the cable system.
