February 9, 1999 <br /> <br />99-33 - <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a portion of <br />the lot at the northeast corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard to <br />the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) for <br />subsequent sale to the owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street. <br /> <br />Surveys for the property reveal that the concrete pad/carport <br />encroaches on the City owned lot at the corner of Peach Street and <br />Portsmouth Boulevard. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a portion of the <br />lot at the northeast corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard to the <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for subsequent sale to the <br />owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The owner of the lot at 2611-2613 Peach Street has made a contract to sell that <br /> property. <br /> <br />· Surveys for the property reveal that the concrete pad/carport encroaches on the <br /> City owned lot at the corner of Peach Street and Portsmouth Boulevard. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· Conveyance/sale of this property to a private citizen will place the property back <br /> on the tax rolls. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the <br />following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY THE <br />REMAINDER OF LOT 6, BLOCK 59, ON THE PLAN OF BRIGHTON TO <br />PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey to Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority the following described property, to-wit: <br /> <br /> All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, with the building and <br />improvements thereon, lying situate, and being in the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, and being known, numbered and designated as Lot 6, in Block 59, as <br />shown on the Plan of Brighton, which said plat is duly recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in Map Book 21, <br />at pages 32 through 35, Less, save and except the northern 5 feet of said lot <br />conveyed to others. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute <br />such deeds, or other documents as being be required to give full effect to this <br />resolution." <br /> <br />Ayes: Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />99-34 - <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the transfer of the franchise held by Cox <br />Communications Hampton Roads, Inc. to Cox Communications Hampton <br />roads L.L.C. <br /> <br />This request is being made by Cox as part of a corporate <br />reorganization and will have no impact on the day to day <br />management or operations of the cable franchise, nor the ownership <br />of the cable system. <br /> <br /> <br />
