57 <br /> <br /> i~EREAS, the cities of the area and the City of Portsmouth have been notified by <br />fuel distributors that they will not be supplied with gasoline for their needs after <br />July 51, 1973: and <br /> <br /> %~EREAS. the failure to find adequate sources <br />to a standstill numerous essential public services <br />for the health and safety of its citizenry. <br /> <br />to supply gasoline fuel will bring <br />provided by the City of Portsmouth <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br />that it urges the President of the United States to immediately establish a priority <br />allocation system for gasoline, diesel fuel and heatin~ oils in order to insure that <br />municipalities are given adequate supplies at reasonable prices so that they can continue <br />to provide essential public services to their citizens. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a certified <br />copy of this resolution to the President of the United States, to the two senators from <br />Virginia, and to the Honorable Robert W.
