<br /> All of the funds appropriated above are Federal funds except for $1,615 required
<br />in local cash for purchase of equipment and supplies for the Work Release Program.
<br />The local cash has been budgeted in the City Sheriff's budget in the General Fund for
<br />1973-74."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. J6hnson, the following ordinance was

<br />COMMUNITY BASED CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS."

<br /> 75-287 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading
<br />This appropriates $41,62t of Federal funds for the Community Relations and Crime Preventio
<br />Program.
<br />
<br /> These funds represent a one-year extension of the Community Relations and Crime
<br />Prevention Program which is now in its third year. The Federal funds provided in this
<br />grant will be used for personnel costs, travel, equipment, and other miscellaneous items
<br />required for the one year's operation of the Community Relations Program."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was
<br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $41,621 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND TO FUND
<br />THE THIRD YEAR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS."

<br /> 73-288 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first readin
<br />This appropriates $4,095 in the Federal Grants Fund for three programs in the category
<br />of education, training and information services for law enforcement officers, judges
<br />and prosecutors.
<br />
<br /> The first program covered by this appropriation is for $474 of
<br />two Portsmouth police officers to be sent to the Federal Bureau of
<br />Academy for one week's training.

<br /> The second program included in the above appropriation is for $619 of Federal funds
<br />which will provide the resources necessary for the continued education and training
<br />of the Portsmouth General District Court Judge. The course is a one-week graduate academy
<br />session presented by the American Academy of Judicial Education.
<br />
<br /> The third and final program included in the above appropriation is for $5,000,
<br />of which $2,250 are Federal funds and $7S0 are local funds. This program will enable
<br />the Portsmouth Police Department to purchase the equipment necessary to establish a
<br />Weapons Proficiency Program whereby every sworn officer of the department will be required
<br />to maintain an equipped standard of gun safety and shooting skill. The $7S0.in local
<br />money has been budgeted under the ammunition category in the Police Department's General
<br />Fund for 1975-74."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was
<br />approved on first reading and by the following vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $4,093 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR THE
<br />TRAINING AND EDUCATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS."

<br /> 73-289 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading
<br />This appropriates $9,400 from the General Fund to purchase concession-type items for
<br />Sleepy Hole and City Park.
<br />
<br /> The above appropriation is necessary in order that we may purchase concession-type
<br />items such as soft drinks, hot dogs, ice and other food items for resale at the two
<br />parks. The funds required to cover this appropriation will be realized from the profit
<br />on the sale of the concession items. It is estimated that approximately $10,000 will
<br />be realized from the sale of concession-type items at the two facilities."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following ordinanee was
<br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $9,400 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PURCHASE
