Leigh, for services on the Parks and RecreatiOn Commission <br />Mrs. Owen T. Rippey, for services on the Board of Architectural REview. <br /> <br />The following reports from the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 73-279 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first <br />reading. This closes two portions of South Street between Court Street and Crawford <br />Street. <br /> <br /> This street closing was requested by the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority and has been approved by the Planning Commission and the appointed viewers. <br />A copy of the report of viewers is attached." <br /> <br /> On motion ~5 Mr. King and secondedbby Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was a~pp~4 <br />on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING TWO PORTIONS OF SOUTH STREET BETWEEN COURT STREET AND <br />CRAWFORD STREET (S-73-6)." <br /> <br />Ayes: Eariy, Mo~1eFg,J~h~eg, King, Smith, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 73-280 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first <br />This closes a portion of Meander Road lying between Turnpike Road on the south and <br />east, and Harbor Road and County Street on the north and west. <br /> <br />reading <br /> <br /> This street closing was requested by Lewis Chevrolet Corporation and has been <br />approved by the Planning Commission and the appointed viewers. A copy of the report of viewers <br />is attached." <br />* See motion page 85 <br /> "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF WEST ROAD ADJACENT TO MARYVIEW HOSPITAL <br /> (S-72-15)." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley,Johnson, King, Smith, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 73-282 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading <br />This ordinance repeals Section 5-33 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1961,.which <br />pertains to the levying of a franchise tax on Community Motor Bus Company. This tax <br />is being repealed as a part of an effort to financially assist the bus company to remain <br />in operation. <br /> <br /> I also submit herewith the attached agreement and request that I be authorized <br />to execute the same. The agreement, you will note, specifies that the City will pay <br />a monthly supplement of $7,S00 to the Community Motor Bus Company for the period Com- <br />mencing July 1, 1973, and ending February 28, 1974. This supplement is to assist Communit' <br />to the extent of their losses as estimated for said period. The agreement also contains <br />a reimbursement provision if actual losses prove to be less than an average of SS,S00 <br />per month. The agreement includes a provision for an extra three-month negotiation <br />period after February 28, 1974, so that the City and the bus company may determine the <br /> <br /> <br />
