This closes a portion of Phillips Avenue west of Watson Street. <br /> <br /> This closing was requested by the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />in connection with the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project. This <br />is a deadend portion of Phillips Avenue. <br /> <br /> The closing has been approved by the Planning Commission and the report of <br />viewers is attached hereto." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF PHILLIPS AVENUE WEST OF ~t~TSON STREET." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 74-96 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first <br />reading. This ordinance amends the net Supplemental Retirement Ordinance whidh <br />was adopted in September of 1975. This amendment will provide the Retirement Board <br />with the authorization to use the old formula or new formula for employees with <br />40 or more years of service on or before September 1, 1975. <br /> <br /> The new ordinance limits 40 years maximum service and the formula for determining <br />annual retirement; however, there are employees that had more than 40 years service <br />when the ordinance was adopted'and, in some cases, pgnalizes the emPloyee due ~o <br />the limited number of years used in the formula." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following~ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, BY <br />AMENDING SECTION 26-52 THEREOF BY ADDING THERETO ANEW SUBSECTION NIR~BRBR] <br />27-52[5) PERTAINING TO THE PORTSMOUTH SUPPLemENTAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 74-98 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first <br />reading. This appropriates $47,000 from the Federal Revenue Sharing Trust Fund <br />in the category of Public Safety for emergency ambulance services. <br /> <br /> This appropriation is necessary to provide the funds for the new contract recently <br />signed with Portsmouth Ambulance Service and the settlement on the old contract <br />which expired December 51, 1975." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $47,000 IN THE FEDERAL R~VENUB SHARING TRUST <br />FUND FOR PUBLIC SAFETY {~qERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE).
