Junius Mason, Pastor, St. James <br /> <br />Episcopal <br /> <br />Mayor Barnes welcomed all visitors in attendance. <br /> <br /> 74-141 Public Hearing was held i~'.~ joint meeting with the Planning Commission to <br />consider Use Permit 74-3, Petition of Maryview Hospital. <br /> <br />Mr. ~a~t~t C. Kilgore, Attorney, spoke on b. ehalf of Maryview Hospital. <br /> <br /> On motion or'Mr, smith and seconded by Mr. King, the following resolution was <br />adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF A HOSPITAL AND <br />RELATED FACILITIES ON HIGH STREET AT WILLETT DRIVE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Maryview Hospital has <br />the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />described; and <br /> <br />made application pursuant to Section 40-67 of <br />1973, for the granting of a use permit as hereinafter <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all things required <br />to be done in connection with said application, and the Planning Commission has <br />recommended that said use permit be granted. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> A. That <br />not adversely <br />hood of the proposed use, (2) will <br />to property or improvements in the <br />purposes of said Zoning Ordinance. <br /> B. That Maryview Hospital is <br />67 of the Portsmouth City Code for the operation of a <br />located on the property described as follows: <br /> <br />the use for which the use permit hereinafter described is sought (1) will <br />affect the health or safety of persons residing or working in the neighbor~ <br /> not be detrimental to the public welf~z~ or injurious <br /> neighborhood, and (3) will be in accord with the <br /> <br />hereby granted a use permit pursuant to Section 40- <br /> hospital and related facilities <br /> <br />Beginning at the northeast corner of Willett Drive and High Street; thence <br />¢~ortherly approximately 435 feet along the east side of Willett Drive <br />to the south right of way line of West Road; thence easterly along said <br />rigl~t of wa7 approximately 735 feet to a point; thence easterly approximately <br />~Y0w{eet to the western right of way line of the Seaboard Coast kine Rail- <br />road; thence southerly along said.right of-way approximately 555 feet to <br />a point; thence westerly approximately 210 feet; thence southerly approxi- <br />mately 185 feet to the northern right of way line of High Street; thence <br />westerly approximately 970 feet to the point of origin." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the minutes of the Public Hearing <br />meeting of April 8, 1974, and minutes of the regular meeting of April 9, 1974, to be <br />approved as received, was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 74-164 Mr. David A. This appropriates. S8,500 from the General Fund <br />for the payment to the actuaries for professional services rendered on the City retiremen <br />systems. <br /> <br /> This appropriation will provide the funds to pay the actuarial services rendered <br />from September, 1973 through March, 1974 for the establishment of new valuation procedure: <br />cost computations, consultation as to systems provisions, and recomputation of allocations <br />b&ing paid to pensioners. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. <br />on first reading, and <br /> <br />King and seconded by Mr. <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />Smith, the following ordinance was approved <br /> <br /> <br />
