<br /> 74-289 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $60,000 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR THE
<br />SECOND YEAR FUNDING OF THE COFLMUNITY PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM."
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Hotley and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted and
<br />by the following vote: '

<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br /> 74-294 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was

<br />BY AMENDING SECTION 21-176 THEREOF PERTAINING TO ACTION UPON A PERMIT TO
<br />CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON."

<br /> 74-295 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973,
<br />BY AMENDING SECTION 18-3 THEREOF PERTAINING TO REPORT OF TRANSACTIONS OF
<br />JUNK DEALERS."

<br /> 74-296 - The following ordinance, approved

<br />74-27D - The following report was submitted by City Assessor J. C. Wallace:
<br />
<br /> "In a letter addressed to the City Council on June 13, 1974, Mr. Kendrick answered
<br />Mrs. Wermick's letter of May 16 directed to former Mayor Barnes.
<br />
<br /> Mrs. Wermick's house has been completely remeasured and
<br />with Mrs. Ermick being notified in Aoril as to the change in
<br />Copy¢of the notification is attached.
<br />
<br />the card calculated manually,
<br />value as~manually calculated.
<br />
<br /> Mrs. ~ermick then went to the Board in April. The Board confirmed the assessor's
<br />adjusted total assessment of $15,780, which reflects a total appraised value of $26,310,
<br />which in my judgement is a fair and equitable appraisal. Upon the Board's decision, the
<br />United Appraisal Company was requested to print all cards not received as yet. Mrs.
<br />Wermick's is one of the few that haven't been forwarded as of this date."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Holley, to accept the report, was adopted by
<br />the following vote:

<br />
<br /> The following request to speak received from Mrs. G. A. Wermick, 3503 South Street,
<br />was read:
<br />
<br /> "I request to be placed on the agenda of the next council meeting of July 23, 1974.
<br />In regards to the action that was taken on the e~o~eous tax assessment that was before
<br />the City Council meeting of June 23, 1974."
<br />
<br />Mrs. Wermick spoke.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Ear]y, the comments be received and pass on,
<br />was adopted by unanimous vote.
