377 <br /> <br />September 17, 1974 <br /> <br />Mr. Overshain spoke and presented the following petitions: <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned protest the appointment of Philip <br />of Chief of Police, City of Portsmouth, and further resolve <br />should be appointed permanent Chief. Signed by J. LL Maske, <br /> <br />L. Ash, Jr. to the position <br />that acting Chief E. R. Boone <br />3312 Nelson Street and others <br /> <br /> We, the undersigned petitioners, who are residents of the City of Portsmouth, Virgini <br />hereby demand that you, the elected members of the City Council of the City 6f Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, forthwith and immediately discharge Phineas J. Horton from the position of City <br />Manager of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. As we, the undersigned residents of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia do not feel he has the interest of the City of Portsmouth at <br />heart and is not the proper man for this position. Signed by James C. Pollock, 36 Wallace <br />Circle and others" Total signatures on both petitions 11,155. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Elliott, to be received as information, was <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 74-405 - Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Wentz, to authorize the City Manager <br />to select an Engineering firm for the Mt. Hermon and/or Effir~hamProjects and report back <br />to Council, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />I~O~ia~;~f'.~r. Holley and seconded by Mr. Early, the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
