<br /> ?4-482 - "Consideration of a resolution authorizing and directing the City Manager to
<br />convey certain City-owned property to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority
<br />(2669 Glasgow Street).

<br /> This parcel of land is a vacant lot owned by the City within the Mount Hermon conser-
<br />vation zone. It is a vacant lot and PRHA has offered to purchase the Froperty for its
<br />appraised value. The Planning Commission has recommended this conveyance as recited in the
<br />attached letter from the Director of Planning. The City Manager recommends adoption of this
<br />resolution."

<br />The following letter from the Director Of Planning was read:

<br /> "At its regular monthly meeting on November 19, 1974, the City Planning Commission
<br />received from City Attorney Dan Hagemeister a request that a lot with twenty (20) feet of
<br />frontage on Glasgow Street (and a depth of approximately 68 feet) in the Mount Hermon
<br />Conservation and Urban Renewal Project be declared surplus and conveyed to the Portsmouth
<br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority pursuant to project plans.
<br />
<br /> This property is addressed as 2669 Glasgow Street and is a vacant parcel of land.
<br />is designated as Tax Map 82, parcel 8. }'~ile the lot is currently zoned industrial M-I,
<br />the Mount Hermon Urban Renewal Plan, its intended reuse is for residential purposes.

<br /> The Planning Commission recommends that this piece of land be conveyed to the Redevelop-
<br />ment Authority for inclusion in Mount Hermon reconstruction."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:

<br />"A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE CITY ~NAGER TO CONVEY CERTAIN CITY-O~ED
<br />PROPERTY TO THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY (GLASGOW STREET).

<br />the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to convey the property here-
<br />inafter described to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for the appraised
<br />value thereof:

<br />All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate in the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, and fronting on Glasgow Street, said parcel being more fully described
<br />as Parcel 8 as shown on Tax Map 82 prepared by the Office of the City Assessor.
<br />The parcel to be conveyed fronts 25 feet, more or less, on Glasgow Street, and
<br />is 84 feet in depth.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized and directed to execute all
<br />documents and complete all transactions incident to this conveyance."

<br />-a contribution in the amount of $22S to the Portsmouth Jaycees to assist in the operation of
<br />certain recreational facilities.
<br />
<br /> This contribution is to assist the Jaycees in the operation of the Pokey Smokey
<br />at City Park. The City Manager recommends adoption of this resolution."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following resolution was
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION
<br /> IN THE )J~OUNT OF TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS TO THE PORTSMOUTH JAYCEES
<br /> TO ASSIST IN THE OPERATION OF CERTAIN RECREATIONAL FACILITIES.

<br />WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Jaycees, a civic organization, operate the PokeySmokey Train at
<br />Park which is a source of recreation and enjoyment for many of the children of Portsmouth

<br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of Council to assist in the operation of this enterprise inas-
<br />much as it is considered a highly desirable activity.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to make a contribution to the
<br />Portsmouth Jaycees in the amount of Two~ Hundred Twenty-five and 00/100 ($22S.00) Dollars for
<br />the sole and express purpose of supporting the operation of the Pokey-Smokey Train.
