Council Trustees-At-Large Wood, Sr., re-elected to serve a term of one year, Cemetery Trustees R. T. Williams to replace R. D. Ottavio. fill the vacancy created by A. P. Johnson, Jr.; Roy W. Cherry to Planning Commission E. G. Corprew, Jr., to serve a form of four years, expiring January 1, 1979. Motion~of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, nominations to be closed and members were elected to the above Boards and Commissions for term of office designated, and by unanimous vote. 74-535 - Motion of Mr. Elliott and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the Council meet in an executive session prior to the next regularly scheduled Council meeting for~the purpose of: (1) Discussing appointments to Boards and Commissions. (2) Discussing the disposition of City property. (3) Consultation with Counsel pertaining to legal matters; was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Oast, Wentz, Davis Nays: None 74-536 - Motion of Mr. Wentz and seconded by Mr. Etliott, to request a 30-day extension of the time to reply to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for study and recommendations on Craney Island and further directing the City Attorney to draft an appropriate resolution requesting same; the motion was adopted by the following vote and the following resolution was prepared in response hereto: Ayes: Barnes Early, Elliott, Oast, W~ntz, Davis Nays: None ~IA RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE U. S. THE DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS ON THE DAYS. A~Y CORPS OF ENGINEERS FOR EXTENSION OF CRANEY ISLAND REPORT FOR AT LEAST THIRTY ~EREAS, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers on December 6, 1974 announced completion of a report dealing with the future of Craney Island and invited any comments from interestec parties within thirty (30) days; i.e., on or before the 6th of January, 1975; and ~EREAS, the report in the form of three major documents was~not available to City of Portsmouth officials until this morning of Tuesday, December 17, 1974; and WHEREAS, there remain but twelve working days during this Yuletide period, and this is not deemed adequate for the City Manager and his staff and advisory agencies such as the Craney Island Study Commission to analyze and prepare a report on these three documents; and I~EREAS, City Council is not scheduled to meet in regular session until January 14, 1975, more than one week after the due date for comments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council that it requests an extension of the dealine for comments on the Craney Island report. This request is for extension of at least thirty (30) days during which officials of the City of Portsmouth in which Craney Island is located may confer with officials of the Commonwealth ~nd prepare a proper report for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to forward this resolu- tion to the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors, Kingman Building, Fort Belvoir, Virginia." 74-537 - Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. ~lliott, that the City Manager to consider some appropriate recognition of Auxiliary Policemen for services rendered to the City, was a~ppted by unanimous vote.
