April 13, 1999 561 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, there were present: Mayor James W. Halley III, *Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, ;*P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm II1, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman 99 - 82 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room: 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 13,1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Fire Department - Annual Report 2. Budget Follow Up 3. Community Development Block Grant Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss ar consider the following: (1) The performance of specific public employees of the City, as permitted by subsection (A)(1), and also specific legal matters requinng the provision of legal advice by counsel as permitted by subsection (A)(7). Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
