The effect of this change would extend Elmhurst Lane from Park <br />Manor past Manor High School and through the Hatton~ville Non-residential Corridor to Victory <br />Boulevard where it would terminate at.the main entrance to Tower Mall Shopping Center. (This <br />Planning Commission recommendation was first introduced to Cify Council as Item 7-13 of the <br />1972-77 Capital Improvements Program which was gpproved on August 8~ 1972.) <br /> <br /> Th~ Planning Commissio~ also re~olved to recommend that Rapidan Street between Elrmhurst <br />Lane and Interstate 264 at'Belmont Avenue be changed to Alexander Street. This would honor <br />the individual after whom Alexander Street was na~ed~ and eliminate confusion growing out of <br />the permanent void in Rapidan Street created by-Interstate 264. No.address changewwould be <br />involved in eliminating this segment of Rap~dan Street. <br /> <br /> In both cases, the Planning Commission is supported by recommendations of the House <br />Number and Street Name Clarification Committee. Established by the City. Manager and directed <br />to conduct research on confusion which impairs the orderly provision of public safety ser- <br />vices, this Committee is well along in preparing i~s initial ~eport. (This special committee <br />consistB of municipal, school, postal and ChamBer of Commerce offici,als~) Neither the.
