June 10~ 1975 <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 75-243 Mr. Van L~fcoe, Attorney, representing the Portsmouth Firefighters, spoke <br />regarding an increase in renumeration forefiremen same as granted to the Portsmouth Police <br />personnel. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Holley, that to let the Firemen perssnnel know <br />that we hear what they say, but at this particular moment we are unable to fund this parti- <br />cular type of request; but if such would become available, we would be glad to take another <br />look at it so they know that we are not unresponsive to their request, was adopted by un- <br />animous vote. <br /> <br /> 75-244 <br />Gag Rule. <br /> <br />Mr. George R. Walker, 1749 Spratley Street, spoke again regarding the 5-minute <br /> <br /> Motisn of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Early, that Mr. Walker's presentation to be <br />received as information, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 75-245 Mrs. Mable B. Raymer, 1008 4th Street, spoke regarding the rental tax ordi- <br />nance being illegal. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Elliott, to be received as information, was <br />dopted by 5-1 (Holley-Nay) vote. <br /> <br /> 75-246 Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Holley, to go into election of ex-offie <br />cio members to the Parks and Recreation Commission, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br /> Mr. E~rly nominated Lee Cobb, City of Portsmouth; Carlos L. Mills, Public Schools- <br />Administration; Robert L. Baker, Portsmouth Redevelopment ~ Housing Authority. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, to close nominations and the above <br />members were elected to the Parks and Recreation Commission as ex-officio, was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br />an <br />of: <br /> <br />75-247 Motion of Mr. Elliott and seconded by Mr. Early, that the Council meet in <br />executive session prior to the next regularly scheduled Council meeting for the purpose <br /> <br />(1) Discussing appointments to Boards and Commissions. <br />(2) D~gcussing the disposition of City property. <br />(3) Consultation with Counsel pertainiBg to legal matters; <br /> <br />was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, Oast, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Elliott and seconded by Mr. Holley, the meeting adjourned at 9:50 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
