<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN CITY O~ED PROPERTY AS CHURCHLAND PARK.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, certain property owned by the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, adjacent to the
<br />Churchland Junior High School has been set aside for development as-a park and recreation
<br />area for the citizens of the City; and
<br />
<br /> tCHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission, after review of many names suggested
<br />for this facility, has recommended that the area by designated Churchland Park.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City owned property set aside for creation of a park and recreation facility adjacent
<br />to the Churchland Junior High School be, and it hereby is, designated and named *C~]RCHLAND
<br />PARK!;"'

<br />receive bids for the lease of City-owned property.
<br />

<br /> This resolution would authorize the City Manager to seek bids for the lease of certain
<br />City-owned property adjacent to the Portsmouth Area Mental Health Facility at 344 Effingham
<br />
<br />Street for the p~rpose of constructing a dental clinic.
<br />with plans and specifications as provided by the City.

<br /> The structure would be in accordance

<br /> On motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Early,
<br />and by the following vote:

<br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING'THE CITYMANAGERY.O. ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE
<br /> THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DENTAL CLINIC.
<br />
<br />the following resolution Was adopted,

<br />BIDS FOR
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth
<br />6.78 acres, more or less, located on
<br />Mental Health, Inc.; and
<br />
<br />presently owns a parcel of property consisting of
<br />Effingham Street, formerly owned by Portsmouth Area
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, there is sufficient space on said parcel of property for the construction
<br />of a building to be used as a dental clinic in conjunction with the existing medical facititie:?
<br />in the adjoining area; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, plans and specifications for said dental clinic have been prepared by Yates
<br />and Berkley, Architects and Engineers.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THBREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City Manager, be and he hereby is, authorized to advertise and receive bids for
<br />the construction of a dental clinic on property o~med by the City on Effingham Street in
<br />accordance with plans and specifications to be provided by the City and subject to such
<br />terms and minimum bid restrictions as he may deem proper."

<br /> This resolution would declare the vacant fire station on Des Moines Avenue surplus
<br />property and authorize the City Manager to receiv~ bids to d~eterminetthe public interest
<br />inppurchasing the property. The City Manager recommends adoption."

<br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR
<br /> CERTAIN CITY OWNED PROPERTY (DES MOINES AVENUE PIRESTATION).

<br /> WF£REAS, the City of Portsmouth presently owns a parcel of property located on Des
<br />Moines Avenue, more particularly described as follows:
<br />
<br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land, with the buildings and
<br />improvements thereon, situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, more particularly described as follows:
<br />
<br /> Beginning at a point on the eastern right-of-way of Des Moines Avenue,
<br />said point being S9.2 feet north of the north eastern intersection of Des
<br />Moines Avenue and Lincoln Street; thence continuing north along the eastern
<br />~ht-of-way of Des Moines Avenue ?S.O0 feet to a point; thence easterly
<br />~mR parallel with Lincoln ~treet t00 feet to a point; thence southerly
<br />Rnd parallel with Des Moines Avenue ?S feet to a point; thence westerly
<br />and parallel with Lincoln Street 100 feet to the point of beginning.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the said land is no longer needed by the City of Portsmouth and it is,
<br />declared to be surplus property.
