<br />76-22 - The following resolutions received from the School Board were presented:

<br />(1) "RESOLVED THAT

<br />The School Board of the City of Portsmouth request p~rmission from City Council
<br />to apply for a Literary Loan in the amount of gl,S00,000 to be utilized for partial
<br />construction costs of Churchland Primary School."
<br />
<br />(2) "WHEREAS, The Portsmouth City Council has displayed an intense interest in and
<br /> understanding of the e4ucatianal welfare of the children of this City; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, both the Council and the City Manager have provided cooperation and
<br />support to the School Board and the Superintendent in meeting the challenges
<br />facing the Portsmouth Public Schools; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, within the limitations of the financial resources of the City, the Council
<br />has assisted the Board in offsetting the revenue losses in Basic State Aid; and
<br />
<br />~EREAS~ the Council provided funds necessary to implement a two and one-half
<br />per cent increase for all employees of the Portsmouth Public Schools.
