Congress still has not re-enacted the General Revenue Sharing <br />and said Program is to expire within the near future. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />that it is extremely concerned over the failure of the U. S. Congress to <br />Revenue Sharing Program. <br /> <br /> Program <br /> <br /> Virginia, <br />re-enact the General <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Portsmouth reaffirms its request <br />that the U. S. Congress enact the General Revenue Sharing Program as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolu <br />tion to ali appropriate Federal Authorities." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Elliott, Holley, east, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 76-99 "Consideration of a resolution acknowledging the designation of the Frederick <br />Campus of the Tidewater Community College system as Portsmouth Campus. <br /> <br /> This acknowledgment also includes the commitment to capital costs for the installation <br />of a sanitary sewer line from the college site to the prgposed Hampton Roads Sanitation <br />District Treament Plant when completed." <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE DESIGNATION OF THE FREDERICK CAMPUS OF TIDEWATER <br /> COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO sERVE THE CITY OF PORTSMSUTH; COMMIT THE CITY TO PAY CERTAIN . <br /> COSTS OF EXTENDING SEWER FACILITIES THERETO. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State Board for Community Colleges has reaffirmed its policy and position <br />that the Frederick Campus of Tidewater Community College is to serve the City of Portsmouth; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Frederick Campus is located within the area served by the Hampton Roads <br />Sanitation District and should be connected to the sewage treatment facility thereof. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that this City aknowledges the designation of the Frederick Campus of Tidewater Community <br />College as the branch to serve the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City commits to its share of the <br />the sewage treatment facility of the Frederick Campus <br />Sanitation District ~acilities~when constructed." <br /> On motion ~f-~lr;-H~t,t~-,~ended~.y~:.B~r~$.~,,~_~he resolution was adopted by the fo: <br />vote: A~e~ Barn~s~ Efli0i%, H611~y, Oasi, Wentz, Davis <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 76-100 - "Consideration of a motion authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement <br />with SCL Railroad pertaining to the Gander Creek d~ainage system." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Wentz, that the City Manager be authorized <br />t~oexec~te agreement, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 76-101 "Consideration of a motion a~thorizing the City Assessor to abate and the <br />City Treasurer to refund $455.52, with interest, in real estate taxes for property located <br />at 2600 ~ahlia Street. <br /> <br /> The legal description of this property is Map 204, Parcel 760, Lot 145A. Due to an <br />amendment to the State Code which was effective July 1, 1974, we are now required to abate <br />and refund six prior years plus current if the error has existed that long. The City Manager <br />recommends a~proval." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to concur in the recommendation of the <br />City Manager, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> / <br />76-102 ~':'q. C6nside~ation of a motion authorizing the Commissioner of Revenue to abage and! <br />refund personal property taxes in the amount of $121 80 to Mr. James Griggs of 359 Carver <br />Circle. ' <br /> <br /> This partial refund is necessary due to the lateness of a transfer of automobiles <br />received by the Commissioner of Revenue's office." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, that a~'h6r%.kation be granted, was <br />adopted by 5-1 (Holley-nay) vote. <br /> <br /> 76-103 t!Can§ideration of a motion authorizing the City Manager to pay taxes for a <br />6-month period from January 1, 1976 through June 30, 1976 on an 8% acre parcel located in <br />Cavalier Manor. <br /> <br /> The owner has agreed to an option on the property for 6 months subject to the City <br />paying the property tax for the 6 months that the property will be under option." <br /> <br /> <br />
