<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:

<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING A PORTION OF GREEN STREET,
<br /> GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY AND EFFINGH~-I STREET.
<br /> WHEREAS, Department of Navy, United States ef America and the City of Portsmouth,
<br />have made application to vacate and close the hereinafter described portions of certain
<br />streets and it appearing that the notice of the applications and the request for the appoint~
<br />ment of viewers was duly posted March 12, 1976, on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court
<br />of the City of Portsmouth, the bulletin board of the Council Chambers of the City of Portsmou
<br />and the bulletin board of the General District Court, Civil Division, of the City of Ports-
<br />mouth, Virginia.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br /> that Robert Reed, Frank N. Bilisoly, Harrison Miller, Charles R. Hudgins and R. Irvine
<br /> Smith be appointed as viewers to view the hereinafter described portions of such streets
<br /> and to report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any, what
<br /> inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the following:

<br /> 141 and Effingham Street, said point being the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING; thence
<br /> ~fifa northeasterly direction along the north side of State Highway Route 141
<br /> N 66°24'52'' E, 346.85 feet to a point; thence on a curve to the left having
<br /> a radius of 43.0 feet, a central angle of 73°14'25'' and an arc distance of
<br /> 54.95 feet to a paint in the western right of way line of Green Street, said
<br /> point being marked by a chiseled cross; thence along the west side of said
<br /> Green Street N O6~49'33" W, 466.25 feet to a point situate at the southwest
<br /> ~orner of Green Street and Portsmouth Boulevard; thence along the south side
<br /> of said Portsmouth Boulevard N 69~58'45" E, 98.55 feet to a point situate at
<br /> the intersection of the south right-~yway line of said Portsmouth Boulevard
<br /> a~d the westerly boundary of lands owned by the United States Naval Shipyard,
