323 <br /> <br />March 23 1976 <br /> <br /> 76-114 'Consideration of an ordinance mn first reading to appropriate $44,250 in the <br /> General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund in the category of General and Multi-Purpose Equipment. <br /> <br /> This ordinance appropriates the interest earnings received and projected for the balance <br /> of the fiscal year on revenue sharing funds now on deposit. This appropriation will provide <br /> funds for equipment in the Recreation Department that is needed for scheduled programs in the <br /> spring and summer of 1976. Also, this appropriation includes the purchase of a Plan/Vario <br /> machine which is an optical projection instrument for enlarging and reproducing maps, plans <br /> and drawings for use by various departments thr~.~ghout the City. The City Manager recommends <br /> adoption on first reading." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following ordinance was approved <br /> on first reading, and by unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPRORRIATE $44,250 FROM THE GENERAL REVENUE SHARING TRUST <br /> FUND IN THE CATEGORY OF GENERAL AND MULTI-PURPOSE EQUIPMENT." <br /> <br /> 76-115 "Consideration of an ordinance on first reading to appropriate $44,250 in the <br />General Fund for the purchase of General and Multi-Purpose Equipment. <br /> <br /> This is a companion ordinance to the appropriation ordinance outlined above and will <br />provide the necessary funds to the General Fend for the equipment purchases. ' <br /> <br />situated in the block bounded <br />Commerce Street on the south <br /> <br /> The closing of this alley was requested by Surry Associates and a copy of the viewers <br />report along with a map outlining the proposed closure is attached for your information. <br />The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br />Robert Sondej, Attorney, spoke representing Surry Associates. <br /> <br /> Unt~otion of Mr. Wentz and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following ordinance was adopted <br />on first and final reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AN ALLEY SITUATED IN THE BLOCK BOUNDED BY WOODROW STREET <br />ON THE NORTH, CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE ON THE EAST, COMMERCE STREET ON THE SOUTH AND <br />BROAD STREET ON THE WEST." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, Oast, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 76-118 "Consideration of an ordinance to amend the City Code by adding thereto sections <br />pertaining to the demolition of buildings and collection of the cost thereof. <br /> <br /> This amendment will establish a procedure under State law to permit the requirement of <br />demolition of unsafe buildings which are a nuisance to the public heal-th and safety of the <br />citizens of Portsmouth and prescribe a procedure for the collection of the costs of such <br />demolition. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On mo~ion of Mr. Oast, and seconded by Mr. Holley, the following ordinance was adopted <br />on first and final reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, <br />BY ADDING SECTIONS 6-29 THROUGH 6-31 PERTAININS TO DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, Oast, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
