<br /> At a regular meeting o£the City Council, held on June 14, 1977, there were present:

<br /> R. T. Williams, City Manager, Gordon B. Tayloe, Jr., City Attorney.

<br /> Absent: Richard J. Davis, Archie Elliott, Jr., Edward L. Oast, Jr.

<br /> Vice Mayor Wentz presided in the absence of Mayor Davis and opened
<br />prayer, followed by the Plsdge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />
<br /> Vice Mayor Wentz welcomed all visitors in attsndance.

<br /> 77-201 Vice Mayor Wentz presented Certificatesof Appreciation to Kelly Briley, former
<br />member of the Citizens Advisory Committee; Robert L. Smith, Sr., former member of Parks and
<br />Recreation Commission; Mrs. Hilda C. Watson, former member of Mayor's Senior Citizens
<br />Commission and Mrs. Emily N. Spong, former member of Mayor's Senior Citizens Commission, who
<br />was unable to be present. Vice Mayor Wentz commended each recipient for their services
<br />rendered.

<br /> 77-176 The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of
<br />May 31, t977, was taken up and read:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $22,836 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR THE
<br />1977 SUMMER RECREATION SUPPORT PROGRAM."
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted, and by
<br />the following vote:

<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br /> 77-177 - The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of
<br />May 31, 1977, was taken up and read:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $3,176 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR A
<br />SUMMER LAW INTERN PROGRAM."

<br /> 77-178 The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $36,136 FROM THE FEDERAl GRANTS FUND FOR A JAIL
<br />MANAGEMENT ANALYST WITHIN THE CITY JAIL AND CONTINUATION OF THE FINGERPRINT
<br />ACCESS AND SEARCHING TECHNIQUE (FASTER) SYSTEM WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the ordinance was adopted, and by
<br />the following vote:

<br /> 77-179 - The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of
<br />May 31, 1977, was taken up and read:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $10,820 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR AN
<br />ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDY OF AFTON SQUARE."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Holley, the ordinance was adopted, and by
<br />the following vote:

<br /> Motion of Mr. Barn~s and seconded by Mr. Holley, the City Manager to be authorized to
<br />select Architect for architectural design study of Alton Square, was adopted by unanimous
<br />vote.

<br /> 77-180 The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of
<br />May 31, 1977, was taken up and read:
<br />
<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $9,500 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND TO
<br />REPLACE THE ROOF IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD FACILITY AT ELM AVENUE."
