<br /> 77-198 - Onamotion of Mr. Wentz and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following resolution
<br />approved on first reading at the Public Hearing meeting of June 13, 1977, was adopted, and
<br />by the following vote:

<br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PE~WtlT TO OPERATE A KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS LODGE
<br />ON CERTAIN PROPERTY SITUATE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF ARLINGTON PLACE AND
<br />HALIFAX AVENUE.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Knights of Pythias Lodge has made an application pursuant to Section
<br />40-75(b) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, for the granting of a Use
<br />permit as hereinafter described; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all things required to be
<br />done in connection with said application, and the Planning Commission has recommended the
<br />granting of said use permit.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br /> 1. That the use for which the use permit hereinafter described is sought; (a) will
<br />not adversely affect the health or safety of persons residing or working in the neighborhood
<br />df the proposed use; (b) will not be detrimental to the public welfare ~or injurious to propert:
<br />or improvements in ihe neighborhood; and (c) will be in accord with the purposes of the
<br />Zoning Chapter of the City Code.

<br /> 2. The City of Portsmouth hereby grants a use permit pursuant to Section 40-75(b)
<br />of the Code of the City of Portsmouth to operate a Knights of Pythias Lodge on the property
<br />described as follows:
<br />
<br /> Beginning on the south side of Arlington Place 90 feet west of its
<br />intersection with Halifax Avenue; thence west along the south side of
<br />Arlington Place 180 feet; thence south 108 feet; thence east 180 feet;
<br />thence north 108 feet to Arlington Place, the point of beginning."
