June 22, 1999 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 22, 1999, there wer6 present: Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm Ill, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, Assistant City Attorney Nancy B. Cherry. 99 - 139 -The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th fioor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22,1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 99 - 140 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Workforce Investment Act Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions .of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: Appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as permitted by subsection (A)(1). The performance of specific public officers appointees or employees of the City, as permitted by subsection (A)(1). The condition, .acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by subsection (A)(3). Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and = Only .such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Couqcil. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion, meeting adjourned. Deputy City Clerk Bernard D. Griffin, Sr. Vice Mayor Debra Y. White, C-~I~IC/AAE City Clerk Mayor James W.
