AND TO ACCEPT <br /> THE OFFER OF SALE OF THE U. S. COAST GUARD BUOY BASE, PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br /> MADE BY THE U. S. GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO SIGN AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PORTS- <br /> MOUTH THE NECESSARY LEGAL PAPERS TO PURCHASE SUCH U. S. COAST GUARD BUOY BASE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAs, the U. S. Coast Guard Buoy Base, Portsmouth, Virginia, has been determined <br />by the U. S. General Services Administration to be surplus property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the Cit~ of Portsmouth wishes to purchase such Buoy Base for <br />industrial purposes in an effort to ~ncrease the City of Portsmouth's tax base; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the U. S. General Services Administration has offered to sell such U. S. Coast <br />Guard Buoy Base to the City of Portsmouth for Six Hundred Ninety Thousand and OO/100 ($690,000 <br />Dollars. ~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />the City Manager is authorized to commit Six Hundred Ninety and OO/1OO ($690,000) Dollars <br />and to accept the offer of sale of the U. S. Coast Guard Buoy Base, Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />made by the U. S. General Services Administration. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to sign and the City Clerk <br />to attest on behalf of the City of Portsmouth, all necessary legal papers to purchase the <br />U. S.
