What actions have other cities in-Tidewater taken regarding the parking <br /> of school buses in residential areas? <br /> Motion of Mr. Wentz and seconded by Mr. Early to adopt the ordinance. <br /> S~bstitute motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the matter be deferred to <br />Council meeting-of July 25, 1978, for the report suggested by Dr. Alford to be completed, <br />and Was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> ~8~178 - "Consideration of a resolution approving the location and major design features <br />the Victory Boulevard Extension Project as presented by the Virginia Department of Highways <br />and Transportation at the April 26, 1978 public hearing. <br /> The Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation held a public hearing on the <br />Victory Boulevard Extension Project at Manor High School on April 26, 1978. The resolution <br />before you approves the project's location and design in time so that it can be presented <br />to the State Highway Commission at their next regularly scheduled meeting. The City staff <br />concurs with the plans as presented. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> "A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE VICTORY BOULEVARD EXTENSION PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was conducted on April 26, 1978 in the City of Portsmouth by <br /> representatives of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Highways and Transportation <br /> after due and proper notice for the purpose of considering the proposed location and design <br /> of the Victory Boulevard Extension Project in the City of PortsmoUth at which hearing aerial <br /> photographs, drawings and other pertinent information were made available for public inspectiom <br /> in accordance with State and Federal requirements; and <br /> WHEREAS, all persons and parties in attendance were afforded full opportunity to partici- <br /> pate in said Public Hearing; and <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Portsmouth were present and participated in <br /> said hearing; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council had previously requested the Virginia Department of Highways <br /> and Transportation to program this project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council considered all such matters. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth hereby approve <br /> the location and major design features of the proposed project as presented at the Public <br /> Hearing. <br /> BB IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth requests the Virginia Department <br /> of Highways and Transportation to acquire all rights of way necessary for this project <br /> conveying this right of way to the City of PortsMouth at the appropriate time." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Oast, Wentz. Davis <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
