August 8, 1978 <br /> <br /> 78-281 - Mr. Louis Turner, 127 Oregon Avenue, spoke regarding str.eet condition, vacant <br />lots over-grown with weeds and drainage in the Oregon Acres area. The City Manager was asked <br />to investigate the matter, and a report to be furnished to City Council. '(Mr. Turner present~ <br />pictnres~ tal~n of the area) <br /> <br />78-282 - The following report was received from Margaret E. Jones, City Treasurer: <br /> <br />"Attached please find list of Delinquent Real Estate Taxes for the Fiscal Year 1977-78. <br /> <br /> This list is furnished in accordance with the City Code. The total of said list from <br />the date of the last collections in this office July 31st 1978 is: <br /> <br />$498,129.61 <br /> <br /> The original of this list has been turned over to Mr. E. K. Rabey,III, Delinquent Tax <br />Collector, and a copy to Mr. Roy Cherry, Direetor of Finance." <br /> <br /> List also available in the Portsmouth Public Library. A financial analysis of the taxes <br />delinquent is attached for your information. <br /> Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the reports to be received as information, <br />and was adopted by unanImous vote. <br /> <br /> 78-283 Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Elliott, to go into the election of <br />members to Boards and Commissions, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mr. Holley nominated the following: <br /> <br />Tidewater Transportation District Commission <br /> <br />Adm. James A. Brown, Ret., to be appointed to r'eptace~Jack P. Barnes. <br /> <br />SBVAMP <br /> <br /> Rev. I. S. Waters to be nominated to serve an nnexpired term, ending July 13, 1980, <br />created by the resignation of Capt. Glenn Olson on SE~AMP of the Mayor's Commisssion. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Ellio%t, to close nominations, and the above <br />members were elected to Boards/Commissions as designated, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion mesting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
