ORDINANCE NO. 2026-45 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING STATE SHARED EXPENSE REVENUE IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $213,809 FROM THE VIRGINIA COMPENSATION BOARD AND <br />APPROPRIATING $194,127 OF SAID FUNDS TO THE JUDICIAL CATEGORY <br />AND $19,682 OF SAID FUNDS TO THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT CATEGORY <br />OF THE FY 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET FOR THE PAYMENT OF ONE- <br />TIME CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICER STAFF BONUSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts State Shared Expense revenue in the amount of $213,809 <br />from the Virginia Compensation Board and appropriates $194,127 of said funds to the <br />Judicial category and $19,682 of said funds to the General Government category of the FY <br />2026 General Fund Budget. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used to pay one-time Constitutional Officer <br />staff bonuses as directed by the Commonwealth. <br />3. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the Judicial category of the FY <br />2026 General Fund Budget are increased by $194,127. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the General Government <br />category of the FY 2026 General Fund Budget are increased by $19,682. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on May 12, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
