ORDINANCE NO. 2026-19 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL IV -E FOSTER CARE FUNDING <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,104 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 <br />SOCIAL SERVICES FUND TO PAY FOR FOSTER CARE -RELATED USES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts additional IV -E Foster Care funding in the amount of <br />$75,104 from the Virginia Department of Social Services and appropriates said amount in <br />the FY 2026 Social Services Fund Budget. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used by the Department of Social Services <br />to pay for eligible foster care -related uses. <br />3. That, to the extent not expended, the funds shall be deemed reappropriated <br />into the Social Services Fund budget annually until expended in their entirety or recaptured <br />by the granting agency. <br />4. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Social Services <br />Fund Budget are increased by $75,104. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on March 24, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
