ORDINANCE NO. 2026-75 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $679,283 FROM <br />THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2027 GRANTS FUND TO PROVIDE <br />FUNDING TO OPERATE LOCAL PROBATION AND PRETRIAL SERVICES IN <br />PORTSMOUTH. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $679,283 from the Virginia <br />Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriates said funds in the FY 2027 Grants <br />Fund. <br />2. That the grant funds shall be used by the Sheriffs Office to fund the <br />Community Corrections and Pretrial Services Program. <br />3. The City of Portsmouth's cash match is 3.9% of the total project amount, <br />which equals $27,500 and has previously been appropriated in the FY 2027 General Fund <br />Budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2027 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $679,283. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on July 28, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
