ORDINANCE NO. 2026-10 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING RESPITE CARE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $420 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND <br />FOR DIRECT SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN BY RESPITE CARE <br />PROVIDERS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts respite care funding in the amount of $420 from the <br />Virginia Department of Social Services and appropriates said amount in the FY 2026 <br />Social Services Fund Budget. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used by the Department of Social Services <br />to fund direct supervision of children by respite care providers. <br />3. That, to the extent not expended, the funds shall be deemed reappropriated <br />into the Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund budget annually until expended in their <br />entirety or recaptured by the granting agency. <br />4. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Social Services <br />Fund Budget are increased by $420. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on January 27, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
